Equine flu' vaccination requirements are laid down by the
Jockey Club and are described in full in the current British Riding Clubs'
Competitions Rule book.
Horses which have been correctly given only the two Primary
injections may compete. They must then continue their course of injections
at the specified intervals.
A horse may neither compete nor enter competition stables
within seven days of receiving any of these injections.
Horses born before 1st January 1980 were initially not
required to have had the third injection (First Booster - 150 to 215 days
after the Second Primary injection). Annual boosters must have been given
after the second injection (Primary 2). Horses of all ages should, however,
have been given a First Booster if they started or re-started their
injections on or after 1st January 1991.
After the First Booster, Annual Boosters are required at
intervals of not more than 365 days. Boosters on the same date in successive
years are acceptable, although this practice is not recommended.
