Hope Along With An Artificial Legg!

I had this pony called Bonnie, and she was first on loan but I loved so much that for Christmas my parents decided to buy her for me. She was really good and we were a pair. Both having good and bad moments. We went to this show in Wales and did some showing and lots of jumping. In the one jumping I came 2nd, ( 2,3), then a 3rd ( 2,6) and finally we got a 1st ( 2,9) , and got 4 faults. The showing was good as well we came 3rd and 4th.

Sadly we went to see her in the morning and she was standing on three legs, and looking sorry for herself. We wet her leg and put a bandage on her. Mum soon rang the vet and he came as soon as possible. It was 12.30 and the vet had said it might be bad news, but he'd be back the next day with a ' MONKEY SPLINT ', which was like a bandage but a little more succuer. My face was unbelievable, and my breath was taken away, with my heart in two.

Months went on with many x-rays being taken, but not a real answer. The leg was thought to be taken off and her to rest in peace. I couldn't see that happen because she wasn't in real pain, just that she couldn't walk. I knew I'd have to move fast so I came up with an 'Artificial Leg '. The vet wasn't sure but he did think that it could work. (maybe?)

The leg was done and she had to stay in a box (stable), for two months. Soon she was back to her normal self so it came to the riding part. She felt the same but I knew she wasn't for me. I put her on loan to a girl up the road to me. Bonne could just do gentle hacking, and a minimum of 1,0ft.

The vet couldn't believe what a good recovery she had made, so he would recommend it again - perhaps!
