"Mystic"

"Come on, we'll be late for the show!" Carys and Megan were entering a small

show in their local village. The prize was a horse each so they definitely

wanted to enter.

"Hold on, I’m just doing Buttercups girth up,” called Megan from the

stables.” Hurry up, slowcoach! Phantom's ready,” called back Carys. As Megan

walked round the corner the two girls started to chat. "It was so nice for

Mr Williams to agree to take us to the show," said Megan. "Yeah,"replied Carys.

"C'mon girls, I haven't got all day. I loaned a box from Mrs Andrews. Load

them in." So the two girls loaded their horses into the box and climbed into

the van. "So, what yer enterin',"asked Mr Williams. "All of them,” replied

Carys. A few minutes later, the girls were wrapping bandages on their horses

legs, green for both of them, and getting changed. The different teams wore

different colours, and the Bridle club, (the team Carys and Megan were

representing) had lime green. The saddle pad was lime, the hat cover was

lime, the bandages were lime, etc.

"Hurry up,” hissed Carys."The first event is in 5 minutes." "Hold on, just

getting my jacket on,” replied Megan. The girls were standing nervously next to the fence as their names were called out. "And now for the Bridle club, on Buttercup and Phantom,” and with that the girls walked into the paddock smiling and waving. "Dressage," called the speaker, and the girls started to trot. "Head up,smile, heels to hell, toes to heaven,” whispered Megan repeatedly.     "Phew. Those things were difficult,” said Carys. "Yeah, especially the

cross country,” replied Megan. "I wonder who won," Carys said. "We'll find

out soon,” Megan replied. "And the winner is...The Bridle Club," called the

speaker. "Yes,” shouted Carys and she punched the air.

Later on the girls were in a sales paddock next to the grounds. "I'll

have this one please,” said Carys, pointing to a cream and brown horse.

"Yeah," said the sales man gruffly.” Have 'I'm." "Has he got a name?” asked

Carys. "Yeah. 'Is names Jigsaw," replied the man. "Can I have this

one?” asked Megan in a small voice. She was looking at a pure white horse. "Yeah,'ave 'er, she’s faulty though, see?" said the sales man pointing to a small lump on the horse's forehead. "I'll take her,” said Megan.

A few months later Megan noticed a sharp point on the lump and rang

the vet. The vet came and explained that the horse, (named Mystic) was no

ordinary horse. She was a unicorn. At first Megan thought that the vet was

joking, and she was in great danger of dying. But when the point caught the

light, it shined. Megan realised that the vet was telling the truth. Mystic

was a unicorn.

A few days later Megan rang the vet again, this time to tell him that

her horn had grown right through. He was delighted!

Carys swore that Jigsaw spoke to her but that was another story......
