A small pony, belonging to a gentleman in Warwickshire, was fed in a park through which a canal passes. It was a great favourite, having been long kept in the family, and was ridden by the children. A little girl - the daughter of the owner of the property - had run out by herself into the park and made her way to the banks of the canal.
As she was playing near the water, she fell in. Her cries were heard by the pony, which, galloping forward, plunged into the water, and lifting her in his mouth, brought her to the shore.
However weak or apparently unequal your means, you may often, if you employ them to the best of your power, render good service to your fellow creatures.
