Karly's Secret
****I wandered through the long, ratty trees as I passed the park. I caught a glimpse of a fast-moving ginger object. Then I walked towards the field and to my surprise, I saw a beautiful Arab mare with a woman riding her. I stood with fascination watching the pair doing large jumps and very good dressage. As the woman cantered over a cross-country log, she saw me. Trotting over, she smiled. "Well hello, who are you?" She asked. "I'm Karly. I was just walking pass when I saw you doing some lovely riding. I've been watching for ages, when did you learn to ride like that?" I replied, feeling interested." Well, when I was about 9, my mum let me go horse-riding lessons, then I got a pony called Jasper then I bought this one, Skye." She told me, looking down at her chestnut horse. I said to her," My mum won't let me go lessons anymore, because she fell out with the instructor." . The woman looked at me and cried," Well, Skye isn't too bad, maybe you can ride her sometime?" I was delighted. I had been waiting to own or at least ride a horse again! For 6 months, I rode Skye every weekend, telling my mum and dad that I had been down the park. I got really good and one Saturday, Sarah (the woman) asked if I would like to go to a show with Skye. I really wanted to, but how would I tell my parents? As I was about to say no, I got a huge shock and Skye galloped away with me in the saddle. "KARLY! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING!" It was my mum! I jumped off, absolutely speechless. "The park? So this is what you've been doing for the last 6 MONTHS?!" She cried. "Mum, listen, this woman asked if I wanted to ride Skye, so I did. Then I got totally addicted, sorry, but I'm really good now!" I shouted. "Come on, we're going home! And you're not riding this horse again!" Mum called, marching off. "Give her a break!" My dad got out the car. "Karly, you should never have rode without us knowing. I saw you the other day, your a born rider!" I was so proud he said that. My mum finally calmed down and I was completely over the moon when they agreed to let me loan Skye! I've been with her for 3 years now and I've been to 43 shows and I have done some western!!!! Sarah is such a nice woman and she has 2 new horses, Daffie and Pilly so I can ride Skye when I want!***TOLD BY MY FRIEND, KARLY (PHOTOS BELOW OF SKYE WITH SARAH RIDING HER, AND AT SHOWS)
