Description:
Annual
plant with square stems growing 0.3 to 0.5 metres in
height; stems are swollen below leaf joints and are covered in
bristly hairs. White, pink or purple flowers are grouped in clusters in
axils of the upper leaves.
Symptoms
may include: Affected
animals appear weak and refuse their feed and water and display muscle
tremors.
Notes: No
recent documented reports of poisoning in horses.
