Description: Perennial
herb with basal, slender leaves; flowers long- tubular, 6-parted,
purple-pink to white, flowering in autumn.
Symptoms
may include: Abdominal
pain, salivation, severe diarrhoea, inco-ordination and collapse.
Notes:
Also called Autumn Crocus. All
parts of the plant are poisonous (poison is colchichine). Few reported cases of poisoning in
Britain.
