A Prebiotic feeds the population of bacteria that is already present in the horse's intestine thus increasing the numbers naturally and in the ratios already present in the individual horse.

Exted Farm Alfalfa

Grown on the farm and made into hay or haylage. This is ideal feed for young foals and brooding mares. It is high in calcium, protein and low in sugar. Rabbits, Tortoises and Guinea pigs also enjoy eating alfalfa for these reasons also but with added bonus of being good for their teeth.

For non-working and non-breeding horses. It is advisable to limit the quantity to suit the animal and mix with poor quality hay as they may get excitable.

Alfalfa is a complete horse feed so only supplementary vitamins and water need to be offered.

Alfalfa is also known as Lucerne and is a legume which means it is a member of the clover family.

Exted Farm Alfa-Mix

This is what we call our first cut of Alfalfa. As we do not use herbicides or pesticides on our crop, the naturally seeded grasses are allowed to grow with the crop so creating a mixture without mechanical intervention. The ration can vary between 50/50 to 20/80 Alfalfa to grass. This is ideal for horses that are worked or competed on a regular basis. Or for horses that do not do well during the winter months.

It is recommended to cut back on hard feed according to the horse's energy requirement of energy.

All these bales come in conventional bale size, which are made by a baler. We do not have a minimum order number. We offer storage for a monthly charge for those who do not have storage space and we can deliver locally.
