Sports Grants
Below are some places to apply for grants
to help pay for your sport.
Sportsaid - regional grants (for your
regional office telephone number call 020 7387 9380) are available from its
World Class Potential and Start programme. N.B. Most grants are
awarded to 12-18 year olds and you must be in the top 6 in National standing
or a member of a National squad.
Small local grants are
available for riders who train regularly and have success nationally.
Call your nearest local council office and ask to be put through to the
Sports & Leisure grants department. If you live between two
councils you can apply to both of them.
Pony Clubs sometimes have funds put
aside to help members.
Schools may give
bursaries for talented pupils (especially private schools). Get in
touch with the Head Teacher. If you have been awarded a school bursary
you may be able to apply for a continuation once you have left the school.

Livery Enterprises - Farm Diversification
Financial assistance specifically for diversification is now available in
Scotland through two new schemes. The schemes provide a range of grants at
variable rates to farmers or their immediate families to create new income
generating opportunities or to expand or improve existing diversified
activities, either within or out-with agriculture. Both schemes are
competitive and cash limited. The
Farm Business Development Scheme (FBDS) operates in all areas of
Scotland, outwith the area covered by the Highlands and Islands Special
Transitional Programme where the
Agricultural Business Development Scheme (ABDS) operates.
Local Enterprise Companies and Local Authorities may
also provide discretionary grants and low interest loans depending on
individual circumstances.
