A growing
number of Chartered Physiotherapists now work with animals. Unlike the title
"veterinary surgeon" the word "physiotherapist" is not protected by law. This
means that anyone can call themselves a "physiotherapist".
The word
"chartered" is protected and can only be used by physiotherapists who have
attained a high level of academic training in all aspects of physical therapy
and are consequently qualified and registered to practice. When choosing a
physiotherapist for either yourself or your animal - ensure they have the
letters MCSP (Member of the Chartered Society of Pysiotherapy) or SRP (State
Registered Physiotherapist) after their name. This is your only guarantee.
It is not
possible to become a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in the treatment of
animals without first training as a human physiotherapist. For more information
about training as a human physiotherapist contact the education officer at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists
or the ACPAT Secretary, tel: 01962
844390.
Note:
By law, all Chartered Physiotherapists who are
members of ACPAT work only with veterinary approval. This ensures adequate
protection to the animal at all times.

Equine Bowen Therapy"Balance and feel for Horse and Rider" EBT (Equine Bowen Therapy) is and
excellent tool as an integral part of fittening horses ether from being
rested from injury or from increasing the work load with the competition in
mind. Recovery from injury is helped due to the way the treatment works to
promote the body to self heal. The Technique works by unpeeling the layers
of tension, stress, emotion, and congestion. Releasing muscle, circulation,
lymphatic drainage and digestion. Improving the bodies functions right down
to cell level so the whole horse is stimulated to greater function from the
brain right down to the feet.
