Use a tape measure when you set your grids up to ensure you get distances right.

Have an assistant on the ground to move poles and set up fences.

 

Smear Vaseline on the inside of rubber over-reach boots to make them easier to pull off.

Use a piece of rope with coloured ribbon marking off set distances to help get your distance right.

When jumping on grass it is best to use studs.  Studs will help prevent the horse from sliding and improve his confidence. Use your imagination and use poles, jump wings, barrels etc. to make a variety of cross country fences in the school.
