Stomach Hairworm
Latin Name: Trichostrongylus axei
Adult worms only reach about 7mm in length when fully developed. These worms live in the stomach causing irritation and damage to the stomach lining. They can also infect sheep, pigs and cattle. Heavy infestations can cause loss of appetite and diarrhoea. The hairworm population is normally controlled by routine worming for redworms.
